According to the World Health Organization practicing social distancing and maintaining good hygiene are the primary ways you can protect yourself and people around you from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The virus is known to spread through droplets from an infected person or through coming into contact with surfaces that they have touched. Maintaining proper hand hygiene can be the difference between us staying safe or getting infected with the disease.

Alcohol based sanitizers can eliminate the corona virus when applied on our hands generously and scrubbed for at least 20 to 30 seconds. In case a person is already infected, this practice will at least help prevent spreading the infection to others.

The WHO recommends disinfectants with two formulas: (1) 80% ethanol, 1.45% glycerol, and 0.125% hydrogen peroxide; and (2) 75% 2-propanol, 1.45% glycerol, and 0.125% hydrogen peroxide.
The Corona surrounding the virus, more precisely the protein spikes nested in its surface is where Corona viruses actually get their name. The hosts are infected through the spikes which are embedded in its membrane. Hand sanitizers containing high alcohol are known to disrupt this membrane and prevent it from operating normally.

As per the study published in the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases, the researchers exposed SARS-Cov-2 viruses to who recommended disinfectant formulations. The viruses became inactive soon after exposure to the disinfectants with primary components of the alcohol ethanol and propanol.
Corona virus, the tiny master or stealth is proficient in hiding in our pores or skin and other surfaces that we interact with daily. We all need to maintain good hand hygiene by washing our hands thoroughly and using recommended hand sanitizers which can effectively curb the spread of this highly contagious disease among individuals and communities. “
